In the first three months of being twenty-five, I only worked four hours and played over thirty shows. That rules.
We started tracking the Summer Salt record yesterday. It’s a project I’m helping co-write/produce with one of my best friends. I say co-write/produce to mean that he wrote most of the songs; then I wrote a lot of the drum parts, polished and added to some things, and contributed two songs of my own. I’ll also be doing lead guitar when we get to that in tracking. It should eventually become a four-piece live band.
We’re playing with You Blew It! Listen to their new record at http://youblewit.bandcamp.com/album/grow-up-dude.
I don’t like recording. I don’t like mixing. I love being able to assemble my music at my own pace at my own house. I don’t know anything about recording besides what 3.5 years of figuring out Logic Express 8 and has yielded.
That said: I’m working on releasing a b-sides collection to IITYE pretty soon, perhaps one at a time. The third one (two are already out there) should come out Monday.
Also notable: I have someone willing to help me record LP2 somewhere other than my bedroom. Awesome.
In addition: I’ve been working with Patrick lately, writing drums and polishing several of his songs for another project called Summer Salt. I’ve written one song for it and may finish another before we get to tracking. It’s been really fun.

This is the best picture from tour I’ve seen yet. Hey, my left arm!
For some reason, Tumblr won’t let me follow Dave’s blog. Why?
Day six of tour. It’s been so incredible. Having fun doesn’t even begin to describe it. People are actually showing up and singing along. I’m starting to feel a little sore from sleeping in weird places, headbanging, and falling into drum kits. I met Alia Shawkat (Maebe from Arrested Development) randomly in NYC. Ridiculous. Today is an off day. You’ve never seen napping this hard.
